At the invitation of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and led by Senior Colonel Zhang Wendan, Deputy Chief of Staff of China's South Sea Fleet, Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy "Guangzhou" DDG arrived at Muara Port, Brunei Darussalam, on 11th August 2009 for BRIDEX2009 and friendly visit.
This visit will enhance the exchanges and mutual trusts between China and Brunei and also their military forces, further promote the all-round friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
H.E. Mme. Tong Xiaoling, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, together with all her staffs, went to Muara Port to receive and welcome the DDG's arrival. After inspecting the guard of honour at the DDG's deck, H.E. Mme. Tong Xiaoling conveyed her greetings to all the officers and soldiers and all the Embassy staffs held a get-together with the soldiers
Developed and built by China herself and categorised as the 3rd-generation and a representative of the PLA Navy's new main-battle vessels, "Guangzhou" DDG has a full-load displacement of more than 5,850 tons, and a relatively strong anti-air, anti-ship, anti-submarine combat capacity and electronic countermeasures.
